Another emergency train from Jena and the Saale-Holzland district on its way to the disaster area
On Monday morning, 32 additional volunteer emergency services from Jena and an equivalent emergency unit from the Saale-Holzland district (SHK) set off for the disaster area that had been badly hit by the floods.
On the way to the Nürburgring staging area
From the assembly point in Eisenach, the helpers are on their way to the Nürburgring staging area, where the fire department and the command support team are being coordinated for deployment in the affected areas.
Head of department Benjamin Koppe informs:
The comrades from the Jena volunteer fire departments and our neighboring district are thus also replacing the units of the care and medical platoon, who returned in good health on Saturday and tirelessly provided assistance in the affected areas. We would like to express our sincere thanks for this and at the same time wish the new emergency services all the best for their tasks on the ground.
According to Koppe, the Jena units deployed include a command support squadron and an emergency unit consisting of a total of two command vehicles, one command vehicle, two crew transport vehicles, two fire engines, one water tender and one rescue vehicle.
Tasks: Ensuring fire protection as well as recovery and clean-up work
The emergency services will be deployed in the disaster area until Friday and will probably be primarily tasked with ensuring fire protection as well as recovery and clean-up work. In addition, the next request for support has already been received today by the Jena Fire Department and the SHK: Team and patient transporters are currently being prepared for the journey to the disaster area to help with patient transportation.
