Future Center for European Transformation and German Unity

Joint application by the City of Jena and Friedrich Schiller University Jena

The City of Jena and the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena are jointly preparing an application for the Future Center for European Transformation and German Unity. In its final report, the commission "30 Years of Peaceful Revolution and German Unity" recommended such an institution in East Germany.

The tender documents are expected at the end of the year. If the city of Jena meets the criteria for an application, the city, Friedrich Schiller University and other partners will submit a corresponding concept.

Scientific institute and central center for dialogue, encounters and culture

The Future Center for European Transformation and German Unity is to function as a scientific institute and central dialogue, meeting and cultural center with a direct connection to urban society.

According to the latest information from the Commission, a workplace for 200 employees is to be created by 2027 on around 15,000 square meters of floor space.
