1. Enforcement of the Federal Immission Control Act and the corresponding ordinances
2. Issuing of permits and monitoring of installations requiring and not requiring approval in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act
3. Noise action planning and clean air planning, implementation of the city's district heating statutes
4. Comments as a public authority, technical consultations
5. Mobile communications officer for the city
6. Processing of complaints from neighbors (light, dust, noise, odors, vibrations)
7. Monitoring the implementation of European and national regulations on the manufacture, packaging and marketing of chemical substances and mixtures
8. Monitoring the sale of these products in commercial establishments, including mail order and internet trade
9. Monitoring the use of hazardous substances and mixtures
