Countdown to the 2021 federal election is on

The election to the 20th German Bundestag will take place on Sunday, September 26. Voters still have the opportunity to cast their vote by postal ballot.

97 polling stations

So far, almost 33,000 postal vote applications have been submitted to the Jena electoral office - 22,000 of which have been returned so far. For the ballot box election on Sunday, 26.09.2021, 97 polling stations will open in the city from 08:00 to 18:00. Anyone wishing to vote by ballot box on election Sunday should find out the exact location of their polling station in advance. The address can be found on the polling card. The Jena Electoral Office recommends taking a close look here, as many polling stations and allocations have changed. You can also find the correct polling station on the city's website.

Please bring your identity card or passport and, if possible, your polling card. If you cannot find this, you can still vote. The decisive factor is that you are on the electoral roll. An identity document is a prerequisite for identification.

Bring your own writing utensil

For infection protection reasons, all citizens are also asked to bring their own ballpoint pen. According to the current Corona Protection Ordinance of the state of Thuringia, it is mandatory to wear a medical face mask in the polling stations and ballot boxes. Exceptions are possible with a medical certificate. In addition, the usual distancing and hygiene rules apply in the polling stations.

Postal voting

The electoral office recommends that postal voting applications are no longer sent by post, as the time for postal delivery and return could be short. Absentee ballots can be delivered in person to the postal voting office in the plenary hall of the Historic Town Hall, Markt 1, 07743 Jena, by Friday, 24.09.2021, 18:00 or posted in the City of Jena's deadline letterbox, Am Anger 15, by Saturday, 25.09.2021, 24:00 or delivered in person to the election headquarters, Am Anger 28, on election Sunday, 26.09.2021. It is not possible to hand in ballot papers at the polling stations.
