Child protection course presented

19.10.2021

With the new Child and Youth Strengthening Act (KJSG), the Bundestag has created a framework that sharpens the focus on children and their personal rights.

In the coming months, daycare centers will develop and implement protection concepts against violence. In addition, the focus will be placed on strengthening the individual personal rights of the child. This includes, for example, suitable procedures for self-representation and participation as well as the provision of internal and external complaints mechanisms.

In order to better achieve these goals, the youth work/youth social work team and the child day care team have acquired a child protection course via the Thuringia State Working Group for the Protection of Children and Young People (Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Kinder- und Jugendschutz Thüringen e.V.).

In future, this course can be borrowed free of charge from the Youth & Education Department for activities with children as well as for events, seminars and training courses in daycare centers or elementary school.

During a demonstration of the teaching materials, daycare center staff were able to see the contents of the course for themselves, test it and take away suggestions for their educational work on child protection. Around 30 educators got to know the topics and materials and practiced the contents of the course such as children's rights, feelings, violence, anger and power as well as closeness and distance in a playful way.
