The new youth center in Lobeda-West has a name

After a long-term process together with young people from the Lobeda social area, a name was sought for the new building at Karl-Marx-Allee 13 and has now been found.

Young people had the opportunity to submit name suggestions until mid-July 2021.

This was followed by a survey on the new youth center about possible content, offers and opening hours until mid-October. Eight favorites were selected from over 50 name suggestions and evaluated using a questionnaire. There were two finalists from the results: Westside and KarMa.

In the final voting process (via Instagram, on tours with Streetwork Lobeda, at the Lobeda schools, at the "Treffpunkt" youth center), the young people voted for Westside on 8 December: "Westside" youth center.

Almost 600 young people from Lobeda were involved in the entire participation process. The "Westside" youth center is expected to open at its new location (Karl-Marx-Allee 13) in April 2022. The process of developing a logo for the Westside youth center will begin in January. This will also be done with the involvement of young people and should be completed by the end of March at the latest.
