Work begins in Drackendorf Park
Next Monday, May 25, Grünland GmbH from Hermsdorf will begin work in and on the outdoor facilities in Drackendorf Park. A week later, Kommunale Immobilien Jena will also start renovation work on the historic tea pavilion.
In 2017, the city council decided on a development and maintenance concept for the landscape park, which is protected as a cultural monument, based on a monument preservation objective.
Its central aim is to bring the original design idea back to life. To achieve this, spatial structures must be reclaimed, the path network renovated and supplemented, the trees regenerated and appropriate planting carried out.
Park areas must be closed off
After the preparatory work and the construction of the pond bridge were completed last year, the renovation and reconstruction of the path network is now beginning in the southwest. The structure of the paths has been adapted to the protected trees and shrubs. This means that there will also be areas where the paths will simply be raised. Park areas will have to be temporarily closed for path construction. The path construction should be completed by September at the latest. The small pavilion at the south pond should also be erected by then.
The renovation of the historic teahouse will begin on June 2 and should be completed by the end of July. The teahouse will be given a new slate roof and the façade will be renovated in line with the restoration work carried out in the 1980s. The historic fountain in front of the teahouse will also be renovated. However, a complete reconstruction of the etagerie will not be carried out.
In a final phase in the fall of this year, the planting and construction of the bridge on Alte Dorfstraße will take place.
The project is being financed in part with urban development funds from the federal and state "Socially Integrative City" program.
