Date and candidates for the run-off elections have been set
At its meeting on Tuesday evening, the election committee confirmed the provisional results of the elections for the district mayors in Jena-Süd and Closewitz. This means that there will be a run-off election in both districts on Sunday, June 26, 2022.
In Jena-Süd, the choice is between Christina Prothmann (Alliance 90/The Greens) and Stig Ludwig (SPD).In Closewitz, the choice is between Rainer Robotta and Alexander Maier. Both candidates were nominated by most Closewitz voters in the first ballot because no candidate had been found in advance.
Postal voting now possible
It is now possible to apply for postal voting documents again. The best way to do this is online at jena.de/briefwahl. Postal voting documents can also be applied for by email (briefwahl@jena.de) and in person at Löbdergraben 12. Voting is also possible immediately at the postal polling station at Löbdergraben: Mon./May/Fri. 9.00 am - 1.00 pm, Tue./Thurs. 9.00 am - 6.00 pm, Friday, 24.6.22 also 9.00 am - 6.00 pm).
There were also postal voters in Closewitz for last Sunday's election. Four people applied for postal voting documents, three of whom sent them back. In order to protect the secrecy of the ballot, the postal votes were mixed with the ballot box votes and counted, i.e. not recorded separately. The website wahlen.jena.de briefly reported that there were no postal votes in Closewitz. We apologize for this, the error has been corrected.
