Crown caps for the Jena Children's Aid Foundation

11.08.2022

500 kg of crown caps have been collected in six months by the Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) collection campaign for children. This corresponds to around 220,000 caps. The caps collected are recycled and the proceeds, which are calculated on the basis of the current scrap price, are donated to the Kinderhilfestiftung Jena e.V. (Jena Children's Aid Foundation). So far, the net amount has been around 190 euros.

The suggestion to collect and recycle the lids and donate the proceeds came from Jena vocational school teacher Shabnam Staudt. She submitted the proposal to the citizens' budget last year. However, it was not even put to the vote. Instead, KSJ implemented it immediately.

The appropriately marked garbage cans, also known as "treasure chests", have been available at the recycling centers at Löbstedter Straße 56 and Emil-Wölk-Straße 13 a in Jena since mid-February . The crown caps can be handed in there during normal opening hours.
