Open Fire Brigade Day a complete success
At least 10,000 visitors made the Open Fire Brigade Day in Jena a complete success on Sunday. The site was already well filled at the start at 10.00 am.
For the first time, the police also took part with vehicles and information stands. The German Armed Forces were also present with a Fuchs armored transport vehicle. A total of 25 fire department vehicles and 5 police vehicles (including a police bicycle) were on standby and acted as a magnet for those present. Many children were able to explore the technical equipment and operate the blue lights and horn. Guided tours of the fire station were offered every hour and information was provided about training at the fire department and the other participating organizations.
Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche, Head of the Jena State Police Inspectorate, Sandra Pflug-Hellwig, and Jena's Head of the Fire Brigade, Peter Schörnig, were delighted. It is nice to see the diverse preparation being appreciated in this way. One or two young people have definitely found their dream job today.
The next event of this kind is planned for 2024.
