On the occasion of the 2nd German-American Friendship Day, the US Consulate General Leipzig, the City of Jena and JENOPTIK AG invite you to a concert in the Volkshaus on October 6, 8 p.m. (admission from 7 p.m.).

The Jena Psycho-Choir and the American soul singer Kirk Smith and band will perform the concert together.

The FSU Jena Psycho-Choir consists of around 60 young and enthusiastic singers who founded themselves as an a cappella ensemble at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and have since dedicated themselves to vocal pop. "Psycho-Chor" was actually just a whimsical working title in the early days after it was founded at the Institute of Psychology at FSU Jena. But it quickly developed into a permanent cultural brand with recognition value. In the years that followed, the choir picked up speed - and not just throughout Germany. Trips abroad took it to Amiens and even New York. At the invitation of the German Consul General, they even sang in front of UN delegates at the United Nations headquarters as part of the General Assembly - a goosebump-inducing moment.

Kirk Smith, who lives in Berlin, is a gifted and authentic singer from the USA. He found his fulfillment in music from an early age and sang in a gospel choir in his native Chicago.

He tours throughout Europe with his band and delights audiences with authentic jazz, soul, pop, swing and gospel sounds. In Germany, he impressed on The Voice of Germany 2014 and has already performed with hip-hop stars such as Die Fantastischen Vier.

The concert is being held as a benefit concert for the Ukraine aid organization Bürgerstiftung Jena-Saale-Holzland.

The free tickets can be collected from Tuesday, 27.09. to 05.10. at the Jena Tourist Information Office at Markt 16. Please note that admission is only possible with an admission ticket. A remaining contingent of tickets will be available at the box office.
