Jena in the final

15.11.2022

The city of Jena has reached the next round in the competition for the "Future Center for German Unity and European Transformation". At its meeting on November 7, 2022, the jury of the selection committee decided to accept and visit the city of Jena's application for the final round. On site, the jury will gain an unbiased impression of the construction site and the city and receive a presentation of Jena's application. The Jena application team for the Future Center received the positive news today (Tuesday, November 15, 2022).

Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche is delighted with the jury's decision:

"After we prevailed throughout Thuringia in the first step and received the support of the state government, this is the next important milestone that we have earned thanks to the hard work of the entire application team, but also the overwhelming and excellent support of our partners from science, civil society, business. We will give the jury a fitting reception and let them recognize the advantages of the city. We are convinced that with the central building site in the heart of the city center and the visible close integration of business and science in the city, we will convince the jury that Jena is the ideal location for the future center."

The city of Jena submitted its application together with the Friedrich Schiller University. University President Professor Rosenthal said:

"We are looking forward to presenting our established interdisciplinary transformation research to the jury, which the Future Center in Jena can build on. With our international network and expertise in Eastern Europe, we can make a significant contribution to the success of this ambitious project."
