Corona situation picture

26.01.2023

In the last 7 days, 78 new infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been reported to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) by the Health Service. This corresponds to a weekly trend in infections of +56%.

73 positive rapid tests were transmitted by the test centers. These figures are also passed on to the RKI, but are not included in the statistics.

This is the last corona situation report to be published by the city of Jena for the time being. On February 3, the obligations to wear a mask in public transport and to isolate after an infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus will end in Thuringia. This also eliminates the need for regular reports. In the event of a significant increase in Covid19 cases, the information will be resumed. Interested parties can call up current values via the RKI dashboard.

Since the end of February 2020, the city of Jena has provided daily updates on the current corona figures and the associated measures decided bythe federal government, the state of Thuringia and the Jena crisis team. Colleagues from the health department dealt with seven waves of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Many employees of the city administration, soldiers and new staff, who could be employed thanks to funding from the RKI, helped with contact tracing. The highest infection rate was reported on March 25, 2022. At the peak of the coronavirus wave, the incidence on this day was 3,212.3.

In the meantime, other diseases - such as influenza - have become the focus of the public health department. Nevertheless, the incoming reports of infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus are being carefully evaluated. Even if the course of the disease is now usually very mild, the long-term consequences are still not sufficiently researched. A medical mask remains a simple and highly effective means of preventing infection with the disease. Wearing a mask is still recommended, especially when in contact with many people and for risk groups.
