Welcome ticket not decided

A false promise was headlined in both the Thuringia section and the local section of the Funke media group's daily press on Wednesday, March 8. With the headline "Arrival in Jena gets a free ticket" and the subline "City council committee approves welcome ticket for public transport. Two groups are entitled to the new ticket", false expectations are raised that also disregard the powers of the Jena City Council.

It is true that at its meeting on March 2, 2023, the Jena Urban Development and Environment Committee supported a resolution proposed by the Climate Protection Advisory Board on this topic. After this first hurdle, the next few months will now see consultation in the city council committees, where amendments to the proposal are possible and are also regularly introduced.

It is incomprehensible how such a factually incorrect article, which was written without any information from the city council, can appear. The entire article gives the impression that a binding decision has already been made. But this is not the case. Decisions of this scope can only be made by the city council.
