Tree felling due to blight fungus

19.05.2023

On Friday, 19.05.2023, a large lime tree was felled in Jena East at Gembdenbach, near the campsite access road. The felling is necessary for reasons of road safety to avoid danger and damage.

The tree has a massive infestation of blight fungus. This fungus, which is difficult to recognize, causes intensive white rot and poses an extreme threat to the stability and breakage safety of infested trees. The roots and the infested trunk area quickly lose strength and there is an acute need for action. Due to the massive progression of the rot, felling is essential.

Naturally, the tree is replaced by a new planting in the area close to the felling.
