Training camp for the basic course of the Jena professional fire department

The training camp of the Jena professional fire department in Wölfis on the Ohrdruf military training area was visited by Head of Security Benjamin Koppe and Fire Chief Peter Schörnig. The five-day external field camp with 15 participants in the basic training course is one of the highlights of the six-month basic training course, which continues until the end of September.

All practical training content is consolidated during the camp. Danger and accident situations as well as deployment scenarios under realistic conditions are practiced both during the day and at night.

Nothing is left to chance. The six instructors have meticulously prepared all the exercises and the trainees in turn push themselves to their limits, reports Benjamin Koppe.

This is now the fifth time that this part of the practical basic training has taken place at the Ohrdruf military training area. The simulated operations include fires in old buildings and in the field, traffic accidents with trapped persons, rescues on steep slopes, rescues of trapped persons and night-time searches for missing people.

The trainees themselves come from Berlin, various districts in Thuringia, plant fire departments and the Jena professional fire department. The training camp is currently taking place from July 10 to 14.
