Tree felling on Burgweg

Today, Tuesday, July 18, 2023, a large tree will have to be felled on Burgweg in Jena. The tree is a maple between the road and the higher sidewalk. It had been showing a sharp decline in vitality for years and was preserved for as long as possible. This year, the sprouting was extremely low and it is no longer possible to preserve the tree for reasons of road safety. There was already an acute risk of breakage due to the large dead crown areas. In order to avoid damage and danger, the tree must now be felled.

The two photos show the tree last year and this year. The loss of vitality and the increase in the dead crown areas are clearly visible.

A replacement will be planted. However, the exact location still needs to be checked.
