Jena celebrates diversity

On 28.05.2024 from 15:00 to 19:00, the city of Jena celebrates the "Day of Diversity" for the eleventh time. Under the motto "Stimme Für Vielfalt" ("Voice for Diversity"), numerous Jena stakeholders are inviting people to gather around the Holzmarkt and in the StadtLab. This year, the Office for Migration and Integration of Jena City Council is once again organizing the Day of Diversity in cooperation with the Intercultural Opening Office of AWO Mitte-West-Thüringen e.V. and almost 30 organizations in Jena. For many years, these have included advice centers and committed individuals from Jena's associations, Jena's business community, educational institutions and research and development facilities. The topic of diversity affects everyone, because democracy thrives on diversity.

Highlight: Singing for diversity with the Otto Schott Choir

This year, we are joining the motto of the nationwide Diversity Day #Voice for Diversity and inviting you to a special community event:

Together with the Otto Schott Choir, we want to let our voices ring out across the city center. We are calling on everyone who wants to stand up for our colorful and open urban society to join us in making a peaceful but loud statement. For diversity, for inclusion, for democracy and for a future in which we want to live - together instead of against each other. Every vote counts! Come to the stage at the Holzmarkt at 6 pm and show #VoteforDiversity.

Background

The reason for the event is Diversity Day, which was launched by the Diversity Charter. The Diversity Charter promotes the recognition, appreciation and inclusion of diversity in the world of work. 5,500 companies and institutions have signed the Diversity Charter to date and are committed to an appreciative and unprejudiced working environment. Numerous institutions in Jena have also signed the Diversity Charter, including the Economic Development Agency and Jena City Council.

More than 820 organizations across Germany have already announced a variety of activities for Diversity Day on 28.05.2024 - and the number is growing. In Jena, Diversity Day focuses on people in their diverse characteristics and their active participation beyond the world of work.
