Funding for unsealing and greening in Lobeda-Ost

For the third time, the city of Jena has been successful in the "Adaptation of urban spaces to climate change" funding program. The project for unsealing and greening in the Lobeda-Ost district convinced the responsible Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building. After classifying it as particularly eligible for funding, the budget committee of the German Bundestag agreed yesterday to support the project with almost 1.5 million euros.

Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche is delighted with the approval: "My thanks go to the federal government, but above all to my colleagues from the Department of Urban Development and the Environment, who are always winning funding to make the Lobeda district even more attractive and liveable."

The aim of the project is to alleviate the heat in the district, which is caused by Jena's climatically sensitive valley location, and thus improve the quality of life for residents.
