Construction sites during the summer vacations in Jena

During the coming summer vacation, various construction projects will be carried out in our city to improve the infrastructure. Here you will find a detailed overview of the planned measures, the reasons for the roadworks and the planned detour.

Complete closure of Kahlaische Straße

Kahlaische Straße will be fully closed from 20.06. to 31.07.2024. This measure is necessary to improve the road infrastructure and lay fiber optic cables. During this period, four construction companies will be working simultaneously on two sections, namely between house numbers 64-68 and from the junction of Beutenbergstraße to house number 46. Work will also be carried out on the pipe bridge. Pedestrians and cyclists will be guided safely past the construction site. Drivers should use the designated detour route via Stadtrodaer Straße. Jenaer Nahverkehr will inform you about timetable changes on this route.

Bus stop renovations on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße and Schlippenstraße

The stop at the corner of Karl-Liebknecht-Straße and Schlippenstraße is being renovated in the direction of the city center. The renovation will take place from 24.06. to 05.07.2024 and will be carried out during the existing closure between Feldstraße and Brändströmstraße in order to minimize traffic obstructions. A new combined sewer is being built here on behalf of Stadtwerke Jena. Traffic will be widely diverted via Wiesenstraße, Am Anger and Camsdorfer Brücke. Streetcar services will continue to run despite the construction work.

Track construction work on Ernst-Abbe-Platz

Extensive construction work will begin on Ernst-Abbe-Platz from 20.06.2024 and will continue until 30.08.2024. Track work will be carried out during this period. Crossing facilities will be set up for pedestrians.

Full closure of Löbdergraben - traffic possible in the direction of Fürstengraben

The full closure on Löbdergraben between Steinweg and Lutherplatz is expected to continue until 09.08.2024. A detour will be in place via Am Eisenbahndamm, Am Anger and Lutherplatz. Drivers can drive through the bus stop area in the direction of Fürstengraben. The streetcar has priority when entering the track area. Pedestrians use the western side of Löbdergraben. We ask road users to drive carefully and considerately in this area.

Naumburger Straße fully closed until 30.07.2024

Naumburger Straße will remain fully closed between Zitzmannstraße and Altenburger Straße until 30.07.2024. The "Stifterstraße" stop is being rebuilt here and the track system is being fundamentally expanded. Detour are signposted accordingly.

Dornburger Straße: Civil engineering work and restrictions due to a new building

Dornburger Straße will be fully closed from 10.06. to 28.06.2024 at the junction with Nollendorfer Straße. The reason for this is necessary civil engineering work. A detour will be in place via Scharnhorststraße. From 24.06.2024, work will begin on the new construction of the property at Dornburger Straße 6. 46 meters of the sidewalk along the property and the adjacent parking lane of around 28 meters will be needed for this construction site. From 15.08.2024, the roadway out of town will also be used. Out-of-town traffic will be diverted via Spitzweidenweg and Nollendorfer Straße.

Full closure of Keßlerstraße

Keßlerstraße between Göschwitzer Straße and Geraer Straße is expected to be fully closed until 30.11.2024 in order to carry out a fundamental expansion in the Grenzstraße area. A detour will be signposted and pedestrians will be able to pass the construction site safely.

Preparations for the Wiesenstraße traffic circle - one-way traffic regulation in Brückenstraße and Am Steinbach

From 03.06. to 28.06.2024, the street Am Steinbach will become a one-way street in the direction of Wiesenstraße. This measure is a preparation for the major construction project "Wiesenstraße traffic circle". In Brückenstraße between Leibnizstraße and Naumburger Straße, a one-way street will be activated in the direction of Kunitz from 01.07. to 19.07.2024 in order to carry out civil engineering work for the laying of medium and low-voltage cables. Work on the new traffic circle in the Brückenstraße / Wiesenstraße area is expected to begin on 29.07.2024. Further information will be announced after coordination with the construction company.
