Dealing professionally with behavioral and attachment problems

28.08.2024

On August 27, 2024, a symposium for nursery school teachers and their network partners took place at the Volkshaus Jena. Over 80 participants took the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the topic of "Supporting children with behavioral and attachment problems". The event was initiated by the Educational Advisory Service of the City of Jena, which is always closely connected to the topics of nurseries and childminders through personal contact and concrete case work. The event offered practical insights and valuable suggestions for everyday pedagogical work.

Speaker Tobias Thiel, an expert in inclusive education, shed light on the topic from various angles. In his presentation, he highlighted the importance of relationships and bonding for the development of behavioral problems and showed practical approaches to supporting affected children. His comments on systemic approaches and self-protection strategies for professionals received particular attention.

In addition to the theoretical input, the participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas in small groups and deepen the content.

"The symposium not only helped us professionally, but also showed us how important our own attitude is when dealing with difficult situations," summed up a childcare worker from Jena. The organizers, Ms Dietrich and Ms Kaczmarek, drew a positive balance at the end of the day: "The high number of participants and the positive feedback show how great the interest in further training in this area is."

Another specialist day is planned for next year in order to continue offering valuable support and inspiration to educational professionals in Jena.
