
Program items on the Day of German Unity
Twin cities Jena and Erlangen celebrate the Day of German Unity together in Jena on October 3. For many years, citizens of both cities have visited each other on this day every year. Around 200 guests are expected from the Franconian twin city this year.
Program items on the Day of German Unity
11:00 a.m.: Ceremony in the Volkshaus
- with Jena's Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche and Jörg Volleth, Mayor of Erlangen
- Speech by Linda Teuteberg, Member of the German Bundestag and Deputy Chairwoman of Gegen Vergessen e.V. and Deutsche Gesellschaft e.V.
- Musical and dance performances by the flute ensemble of the Erlangen Singing and Music School and the Jena street dance formation "Cucumbers"
2:30 p.m., from the Tourist Information Office: Guided city tour on "35 Years of the Fall of the Wall and Peaceful Revolution" (max. 25 people, no registration required)
2:30 pm, Historic Town Hall: Concert and art on the theme of "Encounter" by the Plus Group of the Erlangen Art Association with a flute concert by the Erlangen and Jena music schools
2:30 pm: Pub quiz with BigKev at Café Immergrün
3:00 pm, from the Romantikerhaus: "Women of Romanticism" city tour (max. 25 people, without registration)
3:45 pm, Historisches Rathaus: "The Partnership Film - Part 3" with introduction by the History Workshop and discussion with protagonists
17:00: Ecumenical prayer service in the St. Michael's Church
18:00: Singing together as part of the "Germany sings and sounds" initiative.
