Voting started: Who are Jena's best athletes?
Anyone and everyone can now vote for the nominated individuals, teams and coaches for the Jena Night of Sport. A total of 44 nominees are up for election, including eight teams. Nominations came from Jena sports clubs and, for the first time this year, also from private individuals. Outstanding athletes, teams and team leaders could be nominated for their special achievements. All nominations received were then discussed again with the clubs.
The festive gala, at which the best of Jena will be honored, will take place on 01.03.2025 from 18:00 in the Volksbad Jena.
"This event offers the opportunity to honor the achievements of athletes who have been able to shine through their ambition and sporting success at local, national or international level and/or who have stood out for their particularly fair and sporting behavior," says Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche.
Both adult and junior successes will be honored. Awards are presented in the following categories:
- Jena team
- Jena sportsman (over 18)
- Jena sportswoman (over 18)
- Jena junior athlete (u20)
- Jena junior athlete (u20)
- Jena training management
Votes can be cast until 02.12.2024 via the Sportnacht website. Each participating person can cast one vote per category. A panel of experts made up of representatives from sport, politics, the city sports association, sports youth, the sports high school and the administration will then distribute their votes. The final decision will be based on one third of the result of the public vote and two thirds of the result of the panel of experts.

Advance ticket sales for the Night of Sport will start at the beginning of December, also on the Sportnacht website.
