Commemoration of the death march through Jena in 1945 80 years ago on Friday
In the afternoon of April 11, 1945, around 4,000 maltreated people were driven through Jena on the last death march by prisoners of the Buchenwald concentration camp. Two events will be held this year to commemorate this dark day in Jena's history exactly 80 years ago and the victims of the march. Two children and three grandchildren of Robert Büchler will be guests from Israel. He survived the death march and felt connected to Jena until his death.
