Register now for the BolzplatzCup

Teenagers and young adults can now register for this year's BolzplatzCup. For the fourth time now, Streetwork Lobeda, KoKont Jena and Fanprojekt Jena are organizing this special tournament for everyone between the ages of 14 and 21 - sporty, creative and with a democratic attitude.

The preliminary round matches take place in four different districts of Jena:

1. Preliminary round: 03.06.2025 - in Lobeda
   
2. Preliminary round: 05.06.2025 - in Jena-Ost
   
3. Preliminary round: 10.06.2025 - in Winzerla
   
4. Preliminary round: 12.06.2025 - in Jena-North
   

The best teams qualify for the grand final on 21.06.2025 via the preliminary rounds - held on the grounds behind the Westside Youth Center (KuBuS Jena-Lobeda).

• 11:00 - 13:00 Junior-BolzplatzCup (age: 8 to 13 years, no registration required)

• 15:00 - 19:00 Final tournament of the BolzplatzCup

The day will be accompanied by a diverse festival with a shot power measurement, soccer darts, graffiti workshop with the FCC fan scene, screen printing with the JG Stadtmitte, #MehrAlsEinSpiel exhibition, photo box, creative hands-on activities, mocktail bar by Streetwork Stadtmitte, "Grannies against the right" with a cake buffet, food from the Kitchen-in-the-Klex team and many other democracy education activities.

Not only the finalists are invited, but also all participants in the preliminary rounds, friends, families, neighbors and anyone else who is interested - the Final Festival is open to everyone.

With the tournament, the organizers want to use soccer as an access point to young people - to reach them, get them involved and get them excited about topics such as fair play, democracy and co-determination. The sporting competition creates the necessary motivation and the framework for encounters and discussions. The rules of the game are developed jointly in the groups - a model for democratic cooperation.

Head of Sports Johannes Schleußner emphasizes:

"The BolzplatzCup is of course about competing on the pitch - but it's about much more than just sport. The organizers are clearly positioning themselves against discrimination with the tournament and the supporting program. I would like to thank the team from KoKont Jena, Streetwork Lobeda and Fanprojekt Jena for this important commitment to democracy and fair play - on and off the pitch."

This year, there will also be two accompanying evening events highlighting socially relevant topics in soccer:

• 13.06.2025 Workshop & lecture "Everyone is equal on the pitch?" with the IVF Leipzig on anti-discrimination work in soccer, Fanprojekt Jena, Roland-Ducke-Weg 2

• 18.06.2025 Lecture and panel discussion "Colonialism and racism in soccer" with author Ronny Blaschke, KuBuS Jena-Lobeda, Theobald-Renner-Straße 1a

There are great prizes to be won again this year:
The main prize is a trip to a Borussia Mönchengladbach match - after trips to Berlin, Dortmund and Munich in recent years.

There are also fair play prizes to be won: Free tickets for Science City Jena and FC Carl Zeiss Jena.

Participation is free of charge.

Registration takes place via the Instagram account @bolzplatzcup.jena - all further information is also available there. Teams of five people can register by May 25 at the latest.

Felix Burandt and Eric Vasold work as street workers in Jena-Lobeda and have their office in the Westside youth center - they are the contact persons for the project.
