Premiere: Jena presents itself at the Real Estate Arena Hannover
(Jena, 13.05.2025) From tomorrow, Jena as a business location will be taking part in the Real Estate Arena Hannover real estate, project and urban development trade fair for the first time. At the joint stand with the cities of Leipzig and Halle (Saale), the Jena Economic Development Agency, the Department of Urban Development & Environment and Kommunale Immobilien Jena (KIJ) will be presenting a number of current investment projects in the City of Light on May 14 and 15, 2025. These include, for example, the new residential area Am Oelste by KIJ and construction site B of the Eichplatz area in Jena's city center.
"Despite the general economic uncertainties, our dynamic and future-oriented city continues to offer excellent investment opportunities, and we want to show this to decision-makers and visitors at the Real Estate Arena," says Dirk Lange, Head of Urban Development. According to the head of department, important synergies and contacts will also be made at the German Association of Cities and Towns, which is taking place in Hanover at the same time. "We will be discussing with experts on site how we can initiate and support change processes in city centers so that they are still fit for the future tomorrow," says Lange. He is looking forward to this exchange.
One of the specific projects that will be presented on site is a construction site of around 3,400 m² in the new "Am Oelste" residential area. Katja Göbel, Head of KIJ's Land Management department, explains: "Here, investors have the opportunity to build a total of around 40 residential units in three urban villas with a shared underground car park." KIJ is also offering two new commercial spaces on Camburger Strasse in Jena-Nord with approx. 4,300 m² and 2,700 m². According to Göbel, these are suitable for office buildings or other non-emitting businesses, for example.
More than 400 exhibitors are taking part in this year's Real Estate Arena. "Around 6,000 trade visitors attended last year," says Markus Henkenmeier, authorized representative of Jena's Economic Development Agency. "This makes the trade fair a leading event for the real estate and construction industry in Germany and therefore ideally suited as a platform for Jena as an investment location." The accompanying conference is dedicated to key topics such as the future of commercial and residential construction, digitalization and sustainability. "We can also gain important impetus for our city from the exchange with other economic development agencies and municipalities," says Henkenmeier.
Jena will be taking part in the joint stand of the Central German Metropolitan Region together with the cities of Leipzig and Halle (Saale) in Hall 4 at Stand H68 in Hanover.
