City reminds of the questionnaire on the rent index
The city of Jena is currently sending out another letter reminding people to take part in the rent index survey 2025. A total of around 7,500 randomly selected households in Jena were contacted in April - so far, only around a quarter of those contacted have completed the questionnaire.
In order to create a well-founded, up-to-date and representative database for the qualified rent index 2025, broad participation is necessary. The city is therefore asking all selected households to submit their information on their tenancy and the characteristics of their home by 13.06.2025 at the latest.
Participation is mandatory
Participation is mandatory - based on Article 238 of the Introductory Act to the German Civil Code (EGBGB). Anyone who has not yet completed the questionnaire should do so now. Participation is also possible online. All the necessary information can be found in the cover letter.
The scientifically supervised evaluation is carried out anonymously by DOMUS Consult Wirtschaftsberatungsgesellschaft mbH. The creation of the rent index is supported by the Jena Tenants' Association and Haus & Grund Jena.
Why a rent index?
The rent index is a tried and tested instrument of Jena's housing policy. It ensures transparency on the housing market and helps to reliably assess the appropriateness of rents. People looking for housing are given guidance, while tenants and landlords benefit from a clear information base. Last but not least, the rent index can help to avoid disputes and replace costly expert opinions - thus contributing to peace on the housing market.
The city of Jena would like to thank all those who have already taken part - and calls on all other households who have been contacted to participate.
