Information event on the construction of the Jena-Nord tramway

The streetcar extension in Jena-Nord will begin in October 2025. To mark this occasion, the city of Jena, Jenaer Nahverkehr and the commissioned engineering firm HI Bauprojekt GmbH are inviting you to an information event on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The topic is the construction project "New tramway Jena-Nord with reconstruction of Naumburger Straße". The event will take place online and on site.

The construction project extends from the junction at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut to the end of the town on Carl-Orff-Straße and is divided into two construction areas:

• Construction area 1: Carl-Orff-Straße to Nietzschestraße
• Construction area 2: Nietzschestraße to Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut

During the event, information will be provided on the current planning status and the next steps.

Online participation

The event will be offered online as an MS Teams live event and will enable digital participation.

The speakers will be connected via microphone and camera. Questions can be asked via the comment function (Q&A). For stable use, it is recommended to use the Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome browsers. There may be restrictions with Mozilla Firefox.

Employees of the city administration will be present on site. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions via the chat. Participants on site are requested to arrive by 17:45 at the latest.

Background

The planning approval procedure was completed on August 30, 2017. The first construction phase - from Camburger Straße to the Friedrich Loeffler Institute - was implemented between 2018 and 2020. After funding was secured and subsidies were approved, further planning could be resumed in 2022. The project was put out to tender at the beginning of 2025.
