Implementation of the second part of the household waste analysis in the city of Jena
Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ), as the public waste disposal authority (örE), is once again carrying out an analysis of household waste on behalf of the city of Jena in the 26th calendar week. The analysis is carried out as part of the legal obligations to draw up waste management concepts.
Two sorting analyses are required for a well-founded assessment of the qualitative and quantitative composition of household waste. In four different structural areas, the percentage distribution of recyclable materials, pollutants and biodegradable waste is determined.
The results provide the KSJ with important information on the composition of residual waste and possible dependencies on structural and waste management conditions. The second sorting analysis is deliberately carried out during the vegetation-rich season. The first analysis was already carried out in February of this year.
From 23 to 27 June 2025, the contents of a random selection of household waste garbage cans will be taken on the respective day of regular collection in the following areas:
- Monday: Cospeda
- Tuesday: Ringwiese
- Thursday: Lobeda-Ost
- Friday: Tümplingviertel
The selected bins are emptied into a separate waste collection vehicle. In addition, a visual fill level check is carried out and the container mass including contents is determined using scales. It is expressly pointed out that no personal data is recorded or passed on. The analysis is carried out in compliance with all data protection regulations.
The planning and implementation of this year's household waste analysis will once again be scientifically supported by the Witzenhausen-Institut für Abfall, Umwelt und Energie GmbH.
