Commemorative event on the occasion of the popular uprising on June 17, 1953

Jena played an important role in the events surrounding the popular uprising on June 17, 1953 against the political and economic conditions in the GDR. The city of Jena is holding an event to commemorate the events and remember the victims.

• Where? At the memorial to those politically persecuted between 1945 and 1989 in the Soviet occupation zone and in the GDR on the Gerbergasse green area

Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche will give a speech and lay a wreath. Interested parties are very welcome.
