
Official election results for Jena are available
Following today's meeting of the election committee, the official election results for Jena are now available. In the election for Lord Mayor, incumbent Dr. Thomas Nitzsche (FDP) achieved 61.8 percent of the vote. Challenger Kathleen Lützkendorf (Alliance 90/The Greens) achieved 38.2 percent. The new term of office for Mayor Nitzsche begins on July 1.
New and re-elected district mayors
There were run-off elections for the office of district mayor in six districts of Jena.
- In Jena-North, Dr. Christoph Vietze, Christoph (SPD) won with 71% against Felix Osterloh, Felix (LINKE) with 29%.
- In Jena-South, Christina Prothmann (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) won with 54 percent of the vote against Dr. Beate Jonscher (LINKE) with 46 percent.
- In Jena-West, Dr. Christoph Nonnast (Alliance 90/The Greens) won with 52% against Jens Thomas (LEFT) with 48%.
- In Jena-Zentrum, Cornelia Förster (Alliance 90/The Greens) won with 57.3 percent of the vote against Katja Funke-Schreinert (SPD) with 42.7 percent.
- In Wenigenjena , Bastian Stein (CDU) won with 58.1 percent of the vote against Dr. Margret Franz (Greens) with 41.9 percent.
- In Neulobeda , Volker Blumentritt (SPD) won with 63.9 percent of the vote against Konstantin Freuer (CDU) with 36.1 percent.
All district mayors will be sworn in on 20.06.2024.
CDU strongest force in European elections in Jena
In the European elections, the CDU achieved the most votes in Jena with 16%. The Greens and the AfD each achieved 14.4%. The BSW achieved 13.2 percent, followed by the SPD with 10.4 percent, the Left Party with 9.9 percent, the Volt Party with 6.3 percent, the FDP with 3.9 percent and "Die Partei" with 3.5 percent. Numerous smaller parties achieved 1% of the vote or less.
