Online participation in the Jena 2035+ cycling plan meets with great interest
As part of the creation of the Jena 2035+ cycling plan, the city of Jena launched a participation platform at the end of February. Under this link , all interested parties have the opportunity to report desired routes and improvement needs until March 31. The platform also asks about danger spots and the need for additional bicycle parking facilities. Reports can also be submitted offline; the questionnaire is provided by the city of Jena.
The commissioned planning office will use the reports to design a target network for cycling. Measures to achieve this target network are developed and checked for feasibility. The concerns of pedestrians and other modes of transport are also taken into account. During the development phase of the concept, regular coordination takes place with a specially formed working group, which includes the City of Jena's cycling officer, the initiators of the cycling decision and representatives of the cycling advisory board.
Since the online platform went live on February 25, over 1100 entries have already been received, which is well above the working group's expectations. Project manager Martin Deppert from the RV-K planning office is delighted with the very high level of participation and the constructive suggestions.
"They help us to assess the situation on the ground and indicate which areas should be looked at more closely."
The desired routes submitted are incorporated directly into the creation of the cycle network. Citizens therefore have every reason to continue to make use of the opportunity to participate directly.
"A high level of participation also increases the representativeness of the results and consequently their influence on the final evaluation," says Ulrike Zimmermann, the cycling officer responsible for the cycling plan on behalf of the city of Jena, and hopes for more reports.
All reports and the results of the cycle traffic plan will be clearly presented after completion of the project and made available to citizens via a results page on the Internet.
