"Operation Luftschloss" initiative enables 30 more high-end air purifiers

22.04.2021

The "Operation Luftschloss" initiative of the Nanotechnology Foundation enables the procurement of 30 additional high-end air purifiers "Made in Jena" for kindergartens and schools in Jena. Selection of the premises in coordination with the Indoor Air Working Group of the Jena City Council, the City of Jena and KIJ.

The current pandemic situation requires special measures to ensure safe teaching and care in schools and kindergartens. Air purification devices ensure that SARS-CoV-2 viruses, as well as influenza viruses and other pathogens, are filtered out of the air and their spread is stopped or reduced.

Another plus point: these devices also help with pollen and fine dust pollution. Investing in air purification devices is a long-term solution that does not have to be developed, but can be implemented now. Other companies, foundations, private individuals and direct initiatives in schools have now joined "Operation Luftschloss". Special thanks go to Mr. Stephan Schambach and the Intershop Foundation, which was founded in 2002 and focuses on promoting education and training in STEM subjects as well as IT, e-commerce, art and culture, on behalf of the Jena IT landscape and business community. As a result of this commitment, a further 30 professional air purifiers can be provided:

  • Kinderzeit daycare center (4 air purifiers)
  • Kindervilla daycare center (2 air purifiers)
  • Kita Regenbogen (4 air purifiers)
  • Schwabenhaus daycare center (4 air purifiers)
  • Kita Abenteuerland (4 air purifiers)
  • Fröbelhaus daycare center (1 air purifier)
  • Burgauzwerge daycare center (1 air purifier)
  • Zwergenhaus daycare center (1 air purifier)
  • TGS An der Trießnitz (3 air purifiers)
  • TGS Nordschule (1 air purifier)
  • TGS Grete-Unrein (1 air purifier)
  • TGS Montessori (1 air purifier)
  • TGS Leonardo (2 air purifiers)
  • TGS Jenaplan (1 air purification unit)

Devices from the company IVOC-X GmbH Clean Air from Jena (FX1.000), which is supporting "Operation Luftschloss" with device donations via the Nanotechnology Foundation, are being used.

Together with KIJ, the city of Jena conducted a survey of schools and daycare centers in Jena in order to draw up a list of priorities (which rooms are very difficult or impossible to ventilate properly via window ventilation, where are there how many particularly vulnerable children, etc.). The working group on indoor air of the city council of the city of Jena had drawn up a further prioritized list. In addition to various schools, this applies in particular to daycare centers, as no safety measures such as wearing masks are possible here and no vaccination protection for the children is to be expected for a long time. The air purification devices that have now been provided follow this proposed prioritization (in addition to taking into account targeted donations for specific schools / classes).

This means that 47 professional air purifiers have now been made available since the start of the "Operation Luftschloss" initiative. Next, the Nanotechnology Foundation is planning to purchase measuring devices to monitor aerosol concentrations in order to optimize the operation and installation of the air purification devices in schools and daycare centers based on scientific measurement data.

Everyone can help - make a donation!

The Nanotechnology Foundation supports the use of nanotechnology - in this case nano-filter technology. This effective technique removes aerosols in the nanometer to micrometer range - and is particularly suitable in the fight against coronaviruses and other pathogens.

In order to reach even more school and kindergarten children, teachers and educators, donations to the charitable foundation are requested:

Nanotechnology Foundation,
DE21830530300018021182,
Sparkasse Jena-Saale-Holzland

The donations will be used quickly and unbureaucratically to provide additional air purifiers for schools and kindergartens in Jena free of charge. The donations are tax deductible. It is of course possible to address donations to specific recipients.
