Whether retail, gastronomy, services, urban production, crafts, art or culture - new and creative visions for Jena's city center can still be submitted to the StadtLab Jena ideas competition until January 31, 2023. In the subsequent "workshop phase", participants will explore their ideas in thematic workshops and networking meetings, receive valuable feedback from experts and acquire practical knowledge to derive business cases, analyze the market and explore possible start-up paths.

Winners not only have the chance to win prize money of up to 1,000 euros for further project implementation, but also have the opportunity to use the StadtLab free of charge to present and try out their ideas. StadtLab project manager Florian Lauterbach explains, "With the ideas competition, we not only want to give participants the opportunity to present their ideas to the public, but also offer resources and knowledge to implement them successfully."

The application deadline is January 31, 2024, followed by a workshop phase aimed at refining the concepts and qualifying the participants for possible implementation. In May 2024, the developed ideas will be presented to a jury and evaluated. The first round of the ideas competition will end in June 2024 with an event at which the best project ideas will be awarded prizes.

All creative minds or people interested in founding a company who are resident in Germany and have new ideas with a spatial connection to Jena's city center are eligible to take part. "Together, we can make Jena even more vibrant and diverse," emphasizes StadtLab project manager Grit Sachse.
