Participation in the design of the first mud playground in Jena - join in now!

The city of Jena invites all interested citizens, especially families with children, to participate in the redesign of the playground on Schlippenstraße in Wenigenjena. The participation period extends from November 19, 2024 to December 9, 2024.

The playground, which was built in 1990 and partially modernized in 2005, is to be completely redesigned on an area of around 600 square meters. Children aged 0 to 6 will be offered a variety of play and adventure opportunities all year round, with a special focus on playing in the mud.

Mayor and Head of Department for Urban Development and the Environment, Christian Gerlitz, emphasizes: "With this participation, we are sending an important signal for the child-friendly development of our city. I am particularly pleased that the ideas and wishes of the people of Jena - especially the children - have been included in the planning right from the start. Playing safely with water brings special joy - with the mud playground, we want to create a place that makes exactly that possible."

In the first participation phase, children can submit their ideas and wishes for the playground to the city using a drawing template. Adults also have the opportunity to take part in an online survey. The results will be passed on to a planning office and will be incorporated centrally into the creation of playground designs.

In a second participation phase (expected in June 2025), the children will then vote on the various options in workshops. The favorite determined in this way will be built in 2026 after more detailed planning.
