It is now possible to apply online for postal voting documents for the Bundestag election on 23.02.2025. On the homepage of the city of Jena(www.jena.de)(link is external) you will find the tile "Apply for postal vote". The City of Jena expressly recommends this method because it is the quickest way to record and process the data. This is particularly important this time because the timetable for this early election is very tight.

Mailing of postal voting documents from February 5

The mailing of postal voting documents will begin on February 5, 2025, once all documents have been received in full. This relatively late date is also due to the tight schedule of the early Bundestag election.

Postal polling station opens on February 3 / instant voting from February 5

The postal polling station in Klostergasse (next to the Citizens' Services) will open its doors on Monday, February 3, 2025, where anyone who wants to can inspect the electoral roll and apply to vote by post. However, immediate on-site voting will only be possible here from Wednesday, 05.02.2025, when the ballot papers are available.

Mailing of election notifications from January 27

Voting notifications will be sent out in the week commencing 27.01.2025. They must be received by voters by 02.02.2025 at the latest.

Number of electoral assistants required has already been reached

Well over 1,700 people have agreed to volunteer at a polling station. A total of 1,300 electoral assistants are needed, according to Matthias Bettenhäuser, head of elections. They will receive their letters of appointment in the coming days. In addition, a reserve will be formed in order to be prepared for short-term absences on election day. Training for the volunteers will take place in the 14 days before the election.

There will be 97 polling districts and 40 postal voting districts in the city for the Bundestag election. Counting in the postal voting districts will be concentrated on election day in the Wenigenjena community school.
