Proposals for the 2020 citizens' budget are ready to be voted on
Citizens can now vote online for five weeks on the valid proposals. On 28.11.2020 there will also be an opportunity to support your own favorites from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Volksbad.
Proposals could be submitted until the end of September and the people of Jena made very good use of this opportunity. 43 suggestions were received. These were checked by the administration to see whether they complied with the regulations. The results were discussed in the advisory board for citizen participation on 12.10.20 and now 21 proposals can be put to the vote.
"The numerous proposals show the impressive commitment of the citizens. I would like to see an equally high level of participation during the voting process over the next 5 weeks. I am very much looking forward to the decision between the 21 proposals," says Christian Gerlitz, Mayor and Head of Department for Urban Development and the Environment.
Together, the valid proposals amount to a total of €94,100. All eligible Jena citizens can now vote on which measures should receive the €25,000 to be awarded. The fact that only just under half of the proposals were put to the vote was often due to the budget limit of €5,000 per proposal.
The rules of the citizens' budget stipulate that only people who live in Jena and are at least 16 years old can vote. Registration is therefore required for online voting. All explanations can be found on the participation portal of the city of Jena:
