Qualified rent index 2021 is now available
A current rent index has been available for Jena since 21.10.2021. This is a qualified rent index based on a representative empirical survey. It provides an overview of the rents that have been agreed or changed in the last six years. Rents that have remained unchanged over a longer period of time are not included. With the availability of an independent sample survey, the rent index 2021 is based on a broad empirical basis and provides a representative overview of local rents in the non-price-controlled housing stock.
The data basis was completely re-collected. As of June 1, 2021, tenants and landlords were surveyed by random sampling (landlords 9,691 apartments and tenants 10,309 apartments) by letter on current rents and apartment sizes. The response rate was 22.33% (4,465 in total, of which 676 were from the tenant survey and 3,789 from the landlord survey).
The rent index now available has been recognized by the German Tenants' Association (Deutscher Mieterbund Mieterverein Jena e. V.) as the tenants' interest group and the House, Apartment and Landowners' Association (Haus-, Wohnungs- und Grundeigentümerverein, Jena e. V.) as the landlords' interest group for the city of Jena.
"I am delighted that we have once again succeeded in launching a new rent index for the city of Jena in good time. The rent index allows housing offers to be objectively assessed and at the same time forms the basis for the rent cap in Jena's tight housing market," said Mayor Christian Gerlitz.
