Reaction of the Lord Mayor to the successful investigation into Islamophobic hate mailings
Yesterday, the Jena police department was able to convict a 49-year-old German man who is suspected of distributing several Islamophobic flyers in Jena in November 2020 and March 2021.
Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche says: "There is no place for exclusion and racism in Jena. We are therefore relieved that the perpetrator has been caught and that peace can finally return to those affected. We would like to thank the police in Jena for their intensive investigative work, which may have prevented even worse acts."
Several weapons and a large amount of ammunition were found in the perpetrator's possession.
