Red shoes" campaign at the Nonnenplan

25.08.2025

On Wednesday, 27.08.2025, the Network Against Domestic Violence wants to set an example against femicide with the "Red Shoes" campaign at Nonnenplan. In 2024, 103 women were killed by men in Germany because they were women. So far this year, there have been 53 victims. On behalf of these women, red shoes will be placed on 27.08.2025 from 2 to 5 pm. Representatives of the Jena network will also be available at information stands to answer questions and make suggestions.

The "Zapatos rojos" art campaign is the brainchild of Mexican artist Elina Chauvet. The artist's sister died after being beaten by her husband. Elina Chauvet launched this action to draw attention to the fate of her sister and that of many other women around the world.
