Rehab equipment reaches Brovary
The second part of the aid package with rehabilitation equipment has reached Jena's Ukrainian twin town Brovary. The equipment was procured and financed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as part of the "Improving Civil Protection and Reconstruction in Municipal Partnerships with Ukraine" program. Jena and Erlangen each received a package of rehabilitation equipment and a minibus with a wheelchair ramp, for which they took on the organization and costs of transport to Brovary.
The current delivery for the hospital there includes high-quality medical equipment that has been specially put together for physiotherapy and neurological rehabilitation. It is primarily used for the recovery of war invalids. In addition to specialized gait trainers and exercise stairs, the package also includes ergometers, strength training systems and electrically adjustable therapy tables. This equipment will strengthen the local medical infrastructure to help patients and veterans regain their mobility and return to everyday life. Brovary's mayor Igor Sapozhko and the city administration thanked their German partner municipalities Erlangen and Jena for their important support for the healthcare of their citizens.
An additional project has now been successfully completed: Equipment for a new rehabilitation room in the municipal rehabilitation center in Brovary could be purchased through the "Small Projects Fund for Municipal Development Policy". This was financed by funds from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the city of Jena. The room has already been inaugurated and is fully functional. The services of the health and rehabilitation center are in great demand among the population of Brovary, especially among veterans who are dependent on special rehabilitation measures as a result of injuries and wounds.
