Results of the Jena Citizens' Budget 2023 have been determined
The Jena Citizens' Budget 2023 vote ended with over 7,500 votes. The clear winner was the proposal for a new digital station on the dinosaur trail. At its meeting on 14.11.2023, the evaluation of the vote was presented to the Advisory Board for Citizen Participation by the administration and confirmed there.
14 projects can be implemented over the next two years
A total of €103,970 was available for the implementation of proposals this year. This means that the 14 best-placed proposals can be implemented over the next two years. A remaining amount of €470 will be transferred to the 2024 citizens' budget.
First place with 930 votes went to a new digital station for the dinosaur trail at Jenzig. The animation of the dinosaur figure Tanystropheus and a newly created timeline on the history of dinosaurs can now be implemented. Concrete proposals followed in the other places, such as speed indicators, a cultural trail in Löbstedt, drink holders for deposit bottles at public waste garbage cans and new lighting at the Hugo youth center. A suitable location and co-financing must now be found for other projects such as the mud playground and the Kneipp facility.
16 proposals for the citizens' budget did not receive the necessary votes from the 1,421 people who took part in the vote. 53% voted online, 47% by analogy. Only 21 votes were invalid.
Christian Gerlitz, Mayor and Head of Department for Urban Development and the Environment, is extremely satisfied: "The citizens' budget in Jena has once again gained public interest. More than 1,400 Jena residents got involved this year and helped decide how the funds from the citizens' budget should be used. This means that the wishes of the population can be implemented, particularly in the smaller districts. I hope this will encourage many more suggestions to be submitted in the coming year."
