Revision of the homepage of jena.de

17.02.2026

The city of Jena has redesignedthe homepage of its website jena.de. The city is thus pursuing the goal of offering users what they are looking for when they enter the jena.de website - and at the same time providing them with clearly structured, relevant and appealing access to the website's diverse content.

The previously used tile look was increasingly reaching its limits: Space for content was limited, meaning that not all relevant topics could be displayed at the same time. Time and again, important information had to take a back seat. The new start page provides a remedy here. It offers significantly more flexibility in the arrangement of content and makes it possible to display different topics in parallel.

Various display formats now alternate - from buttons and text-image combinations to tiles with icons and larger and smaller image formats. This creates a lively and clear structure that takes different information requirements into account.

The new homepage is divided into the following thematic sections:

  • Go straight in: The most important and most frequently searched topics for citizens right at the start of the page.
  • Current news/events and campaigns: Current press releases, space for central campaigns or key topics as well as an overview of important events, such as citizen information events or city council meetings.
  • Services and services: Frequently used citizen services bundled together at a glance.
  • Topics in focus: Strategically important topics, projects or decisions of the city, which can change flexibly depending on the current focus.
  • Science, business, partnerships: The great importance of Jena as a science and business location is reinforced by highlighting the most important players and partnerships on the homepage.
  • Municipal enterprises and holdings: The municipal association at a glance.
  • This could also be of interest to you: Further relevant topics to choose from.
