For safety in the cities

22.07.2019

Building on the successful talks on an East Thuringia control center network for the professional fire departments, those responsible for municipal order in both cities expanded their exchange today in Jena. According to statistics, Gera and Jena are safe cities of a similar size. The focus was therefore on increasing the perceived safety of the population. Specifically, it was agreed to intensify the good cooperation with the police, to better coordinate the deployment of law enforcement officers and to set a joint focus in the "Urban Safety" working group at the Association of Towns and Municipalities.

Gera's mayor Kurt Dannenberg emphasizes the excellent cooperation with Jena: "The talks on the East Thuringia control centre network in particular showed that both cities can work even more efficiently and at the same time create added value in terms of safety for citizens. I would like to thank the head of department, Benjamin Koppe, who called on the Minister President to quickly implement the "Control Center Funding Directive". The fire departments are waiting in the wings - now we want to get started without delay!"

The Head of Safety in Jena, Benjamin Koppe: "The joint association for qualification in the fire department is also taking shape. Next week, our two cities will sign the contract together with Erfurt. We are setting an example for the Free State here."
