School registration at Jena's primary and community schools for the 2022/2023 school year

School registration for first graders for the 2022/2023 school year will take place from 02.05.2021 to 10.05.2021 for children born between 02.08.2015 and 01.08.2016.

The school registration form has been sent by post to the parents of children registered in Jena with a cut-off date of 22.03.2021 in the last few days.

Due to the pandemic, it is not possible for parents to appear in person at the desired primary or community school, so registration during the above-mentioned period with the required documents can only be made by post or by dropping it in the school letterbox. Registration by email is not possible.

Children who are at least five years oldon June 30, 2022 can be enrolled early at the request of their parents. The school registration form required for registration can be requested from the school administration of the city of Jena(schulverwaltung@jena.de) with immediate effect.

Registration can only take place at one school. The following documents must be submitted:

• the original school registration form with the school of choice entered,
• the completed and signed form "Application to attend a state primary or community school" (to be found on the respective school website or on schulen.jena.de)
• a copy of the child's birth certificate,
• if applicable, the negative certificate for sole custody and
• if applicable, an informal application for a desired deferral of the school child for medical reasons.

The school management decides on the admission of a child in consultation with the youth medical service. It should be noted that priority is given to pupils from the residential area.
