Severe weather warning for Jena

16.02.2022

The German Weather Service is warning of gale-force winds of up to 120 km/h in Jena from Wednesday, February 16, 10:00 pm to Thursday, February 17, 6:00 pm.

The Jena fire department is also on standby and advises:

  • Watch out for falling branches, roof tiles or objects. Trees can be uprooted and roofs damaged.
  • Secure objects outdoors.
  • Close all doors, windows and house entrances.
  • Avoid being outdoors if possible. If this is not possible, keep your distance from buildings, trees, scaffolding, etc.

If you are traveling by car:

  • reduce your speed,
  • Be particularly careful when overtaking on highways,
  • avoid forests.

The same applies after the storm:

  • Do not enter forests!
  • There is still danger from loosened roof tiles, branches, etc.
  • A large amount of leaves can be expected on the roads - danger of slipping!
