
State parliament election: Officially confirmed election results for Jena are available
Following the meeting of the district electoral committee on Wednesday evening, the officially confirmed results for the state election in Jena are now available.
Voter turnout, which was already high throughout Thuringia at 73.6 percent in this year's state election, was even higher than average in Jena. In constituency 37 west of the Saale, 80 percent of eligible voters exercised their right to vote, while in constituency 38 east of the Saale the figure was 76.6 percent. Exactly 26,511 voters used the postal vote, which corresponds to 42.8 percent of voters in the whole of Jena.
Looking at the city as a whole, the party DIE LINKE achieved the most votes with 21.2 percent. It was followed by the CDU with 20 percent, the AfD with 16.2 percent and the BSW with 14 percent. The Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party achieved 12.7 percent and the SPD 10.7 percent. The remaining votes were distributed among the FDP (1.6%), the Free Voters (0.9%), Tierschutz jetzt! (0.8 percent), Pirates (0.5 percent), Bündnis Deutschland (0.5 percent), WU (0.4 percent), Familie (0.3 percent), ÖDP (0.2 percent) and MLPD (0.1 percent).
Jens Thomas (DIE LINKE) won the direct mandate in constituency 37 (Jena I) with 33.5 percent and Lena Saniye Güngör (DIE LINKE) in constituency 38 (Jena II) with 25.1 percent.
