Summer Camp for Children from Brovary in Jena

The city of Jena is welcoming 18 young people from its Ukrainian sister city, Brovary, to a joint summer camp. The young people will be guests from Monday through August 1, 2026. At a time when many young people in Ukraine continue to be affected by the consequences of the war, the camp offers a safe space for relaxation, socializing, and gaining new perspectives.

During their stay, the young people can look forward to a varied program featuring daily German classes offered by Kindersprachbrücke Jena e. V., a guided tour of Jena, visits to the planetarium and the Imaginata, excursions to Rudolstadt, Weimar, and Erfurt, a hike along the Jenzigweg, the SaaleHorizontale, and a canoe trip on the Saale. Other highlights include visits to the Leipzig Zoo and the JenTower. The program combines education, nature experiences, recreation, and intercultural exchange, creating opportunities for new friendships and unforgettable experiences.

The summer camp is funded by the City of Jena and is organized and carried out jointly by JenaUA e. V., Europe Prykhystok e. V., and Kindersprachbrücke Jena e. V. The project reflects the close city partnership between Jena and Brovary, as well as the strong commitment of numerous individuals and organizations dedicated to supporting young people and international exchange.

The association JenaUA e.V. is dedicated to culture, integration, and humanitarian aid. A particular focus is on supporting Ukrainian refugees in Germany as well as people in need in Ukraine. Europe Prykhystok is a humanitarian program supporting Ukrainian children. Through partnerships between European and Ukrainian municipalities, it organizes recreational and school trips. The program supports the entire process—from documentation and coordination to safe travel—and ensures that every child can enjoy a safe and meaningful experience during their stay.
