Sun cream dispensers are available

A sun cream dispenser has been on the grounds of the Kulturarena Jena since Sunday. With the free sun milk, everyone can now protect themselves effectively against the sun's rays. This is particularly important during the children's arena, which takes place in the afternoon.

The Jena Health Department will also be equipping the two outdoor swimming pools in Jena with such a dispenser over the course of the week. Funding was provided by the Thuringian Climate Pact. Together with the Department of Urban Development and Environment, it was thus possible to implement an initial measure of the heat action plan.

Unexpected hurdles had to be overcome before the installation. Existing transmitter stations from the coronavirus era could not be reused for hygiene reasons. It was also difficult to obtain large bottles of children's breast milk. The industry urgently needs to create suitable offers so that such dispensers become standard.

Head of Department Eberhard Hertzsch believes that interdisciplinary cooperation is important in the ongoing development of the heat action plan: "Hot summers will present us with completely new challenges in the coming years. Urban development and our health department are working on measures to ensure that the effects of the heat remain bearable for everyone. We are paying particular attention to children and senior citizens. We will have to invest a lot to protect them."
