Survey for rent index 2023 starts in Jena
In order to keep the rent index up to date, it has to be updated every four years - and this year is no exception. This requires extensive data collection from both landlords and tenants. "That's why the city is writing to over 25,000 Jena households over the next few days. I would like to ask all citizens who receive such a letter to return the questionnaire by 19.05.2023 or to answer it online," says Christian Gerlitz, Mayor and Head of Department for Urban Development and the Environment of the City of Jena.
The qualified rent index is an important instrument of the city's housing policy. It serves as a guide for people looking for accommodation, providing a transparent and clear overview of rent levels on the Jena housing market. It also makes it easier to check whether rent demands are justified or not. It has been collected in Jena since 2013.
ANALYSE & KONZEPTE immo.consult GmbH is responsible for evaluating the questionnaires. To protect personal data, the questionnaires are given a case number. This number only contains information on the age and location of the building. This information is required for data evaluation and the preparation of the rent index. Personal data such as name and address are not passed on.
In order to improve the informative value of the survey and increase legal certainty, participation in the survey has been mandatory since 01.07.2022. This is regulated in the Rent Index Reform Act. Anyone who does not provide information, does not provide it on time, intentionally does not provide it correctly or does not provide it completely is committing an administrative offense, which can be punished with a fine.
